Most Americans want Congress to protect abortion access
New poll from AP-NORC indicates broad support for legal abortion
About 60 percent of the public think Congress should pass a law guaranteeing abortion access nationwide, according to a new poll.
An AP-NORC poll surveyed more than 1,200 people in a study that looked at other issues beyond reproductive rights. The data had many useful findings, including that more than half of the population thinks that abortion should be legal for up to 15 weeks.
Roughly 84 percent of Democrats and 32 percent of Republicans want a federal law protecting abortion rights.
Only 14 percent of people living in states where abortion-restrictive states think that it should be illegal in all circumstances.
