Ohio man indicted for threatening abortion clinic
Incident is just one in an increasing number of threats and harassment of abortion workers and seekers
An Ohio man was indicted for allegedly threatening to bomb an abortion clinic in Ohio, according to CBS News.
Police arrested Mohamed Farah Waes, 31, of Columbus, for threatening to bomb a Planned Parenthood facility on July 5. He faces three felony charges, including a violation of the Freedom to Access Clinical Entrances Act, which was signed into law in 1994 by President Bill Clinton and makes it a crime to threaten people seeking reproductive care.
In May, the National Abortion Federation issued a report that indicated a sharp uptick in threats and attacks on reproductive healthcare facilities. The report shows increases in major incidents like arson, burglaries, death threats, and invasions overall; a sharp increase in violence and disruption in states that are protective of abortion rights; and anti-abortion centers ramping up efforts to deceive and obstruct patients seeking abortion care.
